THE TWYFORD is a performing arts, visual arts and community venue located in the heart of Merimbula on the Sapphire Coast of NSW Australia.
We meet, work and perform on the lands of the Djiringanj people. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and to all First Nations people visiting and working in our venue.
Heritage listed Twyford Hall was built on this site in 1931 by the people of the town on land that is still held in Trust for the community of Merimbula. A Supper Room and two small rooms at the front of the Hall were added in the 1950s. 2 retails shops were added in 2010 and a commercial grade kitchen was added in 2015. A new Theatre and Foyer Bar/Cafe were added in 2025. > More history
We host professional touring and community performances, rehearsals, meetings, exhibitions, conferences, arts markets and workshops, functions, book launches, community events and film & music festivals.
GOVERNANCE
The venue is held in Trust on behalf of the Merimbula community. The Trust is currently held by the Bega Valley Shire Council and Council will be managing the venue with effect from 4 November 2026.
The venue was previously governed by Twyford Hall Inc from 2010 to 2021, and the The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd from 2021 to 2026, in a management agreement with the Trustee.
