15 June 2025: SCARLATTI BROTHERS The Southern Concert

    The Southern Concert presents
    SCARLATTI BROTHERS
    THE TWYFORD – THEATRE VENUE
    2.30pm Sunday 15 June 2025

Join us for an afternoon with The Southern Concert, a new baroque ensemble on period instruments based in the Bega Valley with Stephen Freeman (violin) and Odette Bruinzeel (viola) and Rosalind Halton (harpsichord). Unfortunately, Rosalind had to cancel her participation in this project due to unforeseen circumstances; we are fortunate and delighted to have Stéphane Gaulier join us in her place for these concerts. Lauren Davis (violin) and Clara Teniswood (cello) will also be joining from Canberra for this first program.

For the four-part works of Alessandro and Francesco Scarlatti, they will be using critical editions by Scarlatti scholars Rosalind Halton and Christopher Hair.

Complementing these works are a solo harpsichord piece by Alessandro’s son and Francesco’s nephew, Domenico Scarlatti, as well as three- and four-part works by contemporaries Evaristo dall’Abaco and George Frideric Handel.

Length: 1 hour. No interval. Foyer Box Office and Cafe/Bar opens 1 hour before the concert for refreshments.
