Visitor Information

Welcome to our visiting artists, crew and audience members. Here are some useful details for your stay. Merimbula is located on the beautiful Sapphire Coast of NSW, halfway between Sydney and Melbourne on the coastal route and 3 hours’ drive from Canberra.

Merimbula is within 5 minutes’ drive of Pambula, Pambula Beach & Tura Beach, which also offer a number of services.

Getting Here & Around

Parking

The Twyford does not have its own carpark, however there is parking on Beach Street and close by in Alice St, and limited parking on Market St.

Our backstage loading dock on Beach St offers access for one authorised vehicle at a time to unload direct to stage level for the Hall and Theatre. Please arrange to meet our Venue Manager or Technical Manager there in case traffic control is required. Reverse your vehicle into the dock only when both loading dock shutters are fully open.

Alternatively, the best places to park for bump in/out are:

  • Parallel Loading Zone in Beach St to the east of the Twyford Loading Dock door (30 minute parking limit during business hours)
  • 1 hour Parallel Parking zone to the east of the Loading Zone (1 hour parallel parking Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm & Sat 9am to 12pm, unlimited at other times).
  • Bus Stop in Market St in front of Twyford Hall (only available for parking after 6.30pm Mon-Sat or any time on Sunday, buses only at other times).

Once you’ve bumped in, we recommend you move your vehicle. Whilst all parking in Merimbula is free, most kerbside parking in the centre is time-limited during business hours and we’d hate you to get a parking ticket.

  • Eastern end of Beach St (includes 1 accessible parking space)

Being a tourism destination, Merimbula has a wide variety of accommodation options. Those listed below are in order of distance from our venue and are just a few of the available options. It generally pays to book direct – you can often negotiate a discount in low season or if you’re booking multiple rooms. AirBNB lists houses and apartments in Merimbula & surrounds. Book well in advance for school holidays (NSW & VIC), long weekends and festival weeks. Whale watching season is August-November. Apartments &  Holiday Houses

Self-contained apartments or holiday houses are a good option if you need more space, more facilities, are sharing accommodation or want to stay more than one night. Check minimum stay periods especially in peak season, but off-peak you can often negotiate shorter stays by calling direct. AirBNB has private listings for holiday houses in and around Merimbula. The Fishpen area of Merimbula is across the bridge from the CBD and closer to the beach, but still within 15 minutes’ walking distance or 3 minutes’ drive from our venue.
