The community of Merimbula was invited to come and see its new Theatre by The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd on the weekend of 11 – 13 April 2025.
On Saturday 12 April, Duo Anna Martin-Scrase and Dean Gray welcomed people into the new Foyer with their beautiful music while our volunteer team served drinks and snacks throughout the day.
Manager Lis Shelley and Technical Manager Gerry Corcoran ran guided tours to introduce the community to all of the backstage areas and explain the history and the facilities and events the new venues will offer.
An official event took place in the late afternoon with a Welcome to Country by Djiringanj Elder Aunty Glenda Dixon and speeches by The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd Board Chair Frankie J Holden OAM, Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland MP, The Hon Kristy McBain MP Member for Eden-Monaro and Deputy Mayor Mitchell Nadin, who all spoke of what the new Theatre would bring to the community and the importance of the Arts in people’s lives, before the ribbon was cut by Manager Lis Shelley with Board members John Beever and Charles Cooper.
Councillors Helen O’Neil and Clair Mudalier as well as Members of TTHCL, Donors, builders and other stakeholders for the theatre also attended the event.
