19 – 21 August 2022 Far South Film Festival & The Sugarants

The 3rd annual Far South Film Festival is coming to Merimbula’s Twyford Hall and The Picture Show Man Cinema on the weekend of 19-21 August.

The festival showcases short films made by regional and remote filmmakers from around Australia that reflect the people, environment and issues that matter to them. It includes several short films made in our own south east region as well as films from other parts of NSW, QLD, TAS and WA.

The program kicks off with a Launch Party with a film noir theme and music by the Sugarants at Twyford Hall on Friday night, film screenings at The Picture Show Man Cinema on Saturday, Q&A panels with filmmakers and special guests at Twyford Hall on Saturday and Sunday, a screening of emerging filmmakers’ films on Sunday at Twyford Hall, followed by the Festival Awards Ceremony where the winners in various categories will be announced and celebrated.

There’s also an optional Mystery Dinner on Saturday night where you can sign up for a seat on a table for 6-8 people booked by the Festival at some of the local restaurants – choose which restaurant suits your taste and budget and meet up with your mystery co-diners at 7pm – will they be film fans, film makers or VIPs? Participants pay for their own food and drinks for this event.

Plus, ticketholders get to vote for the winner of the People’s Choice Award and be in the running to win a free Festival T Shirt!

If you can’t make it to the In-Person festival in Merimbula, you can catch the festival films and more on the Online Festival platform, and watch from anywhere in Australia via video-on-demand from 20-31 August.

Local accommodation providers are offering discounted accommodation to festival-goers from out of town.

The festival is staged each year by Far South Film Inc, an association of filmmakers and screen creatives living and working in the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla and Snowy Monaro shires.
